The director of the movie Ghost of Tsushima, Chad Stahelski, said that he has the support of Sony to make the production as authentic as possible and his intention is to have an all-Japanese cast. Furthermore, Stahelski said that in this way he seeks to share his personal love of Japanese culture.
Chad Stahelsky says he has traveled to Japan since he was 16 years old and is in love with the country, its people and its language. Because of this, Stahelski is excited by the idea of directing a film in a language other than his own, plus he would have to change his mindset to make it appealing to a Western audience.
I think if we do this right, it would be visually stunning. [La película] It is character driven. It’s an opportunity for cool action, a cool look. And honestly, we’d like to do everything in character. What he means, is something Japanese about the Mongols invading the island of Tsushima, An all-Japanese cast, in Japanese. Sony is on board with supporting us on that.”

Chad Stahelski is known for being the director of the John Wick movies with Keanu Reeves, so there are very high expectations for the action that the Ghost of Tsushima movie will have. Previously Stahelski said he had been working very closely with the developers of Sucker Punch Productions, as he is aware of the fame that video game adaptations have.
Chad Stahelski says he understands that video game adaptations have a reputation for not respecting the source material, so they’re taking their time with Ghost of Tsushima to get it right. Additionally, Stahelski says that working alongside Sucker Punch helps him stick with what makes the game so great.
Snake Eyes actor Andrew Koji recently said he’s interested in playing Jin Sakai in the Ghost of Tsushima movie, but Chad Stahelski’s statements lead us to believe the British actor has no chance of landing the part.
