If you want to buy the Apple Watch Series 7 and receive it as soon as possible, you must hurry to make the reservation. Mark Gurman, journalist from Bloomberg, has highlighted in its weekly newsletter that the production delay would not affect the announcement of the next Apple Watch. However, he expects the availability of the product during the first few weeks to be very limited.
The aforementioned journalist assures that Apple faces three possible scenarios. First: delay the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 7 until solving production problems. In this way, the rumored event for September 14 would be focused on the iPhone 13 and AirPods 3, while the announcement of the Apple Watch would move to another of the events planned for this fall. The second: keep the release date, but delay its release.
Finally, and the most likely scenario according to Gurman, is that the Apple Watch Series 7 is announced on September 14 and goes on sale on the scheduled date (possibly Friday of the same week), but with limited units. This will affect, above all, the delivery times, which will be longer than usual.
The new screen of the Apple Watch Series 7 could be the cause of the delays
Gurman ensures that production problems are caused by the new screen. The Apple Watch Series 7, remember, will arrive in two new sizes: 41 and 45 mm. As expected, by increasing the dimensions, the diagonal of the screen also grows. The first hypotheses suggested that the manufacturing problems were caused by the blood pressure sensor. The journalist, however, assured that Apple has no intention of including the aforementioned sensor in this new model.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is not the only device from Cupertino that has had problems in its production. The company, in fact, has already used several of the mentioned scenarios in other models. For example, him 12.9-inch iPad Pro and M1 chip also went on sale in limited units and suffered delays in shipping times. The model had manufacturing delays due to the mini-LED displays. Apple also delayed the announcement of the iPhone 12 due to the stoppage of supply chains in China, which closed due to restrictions against COVID-19.
