It was in 2019 when we last saw him in the cinema. And after the disappointment of Terminator: Dark Fate, many wondered what would be the next project with which the actor would seek to conquer the public again. Now we know that Arnold Schwarzenegger will return to the screens with fubarthe first series that he will star in his long career, and of which we now have a first look.
The series follows a man named Luke and his daughter Emma. Although they lead an apparently normal and loving life, things will change when they discover that a lie has united them for years. Actually, they are not father and daughter, but CIA agents. From there, both undertake a series of discoveries about the other, and must unite for a dangerous mission.
Basically, the project involves a mix of drama, shocking revelations, humor, secrets, and of course, a lot of action. Fubar features the participation of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick), Jay Baruchel (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Aparna Brielle (Grimm), Andy Buckley (Ladies in war), and Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us), among others.
This commented Schwarzenegger, also an executive producer, in a statement (via Deadline):
“Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well here it is. Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh – not just for two hours. They have a full season. It’s been a pleasure working with Nick (Santora, the creator), Skydance and Netflix to give my fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.”
According to Santora, the project was written with Scwarzenegger in mind as the sole lead. The producer also affirms that it is about “a spy comedy with non-stop action and a hysterical pace.” And if the first trailer lets us see anything, it’s that they’re serious: Arnold appears driving a motorcycle, shooting a gun, and they even let us see the comic tone it will have.
For now, there are no further details of the project or the story, but the first glimpse of fubar It was also accompanied by a release date: May 25 on Netflix. Will it be able to become the ideal project for the actor’s fans?
