The Q1 started with dominance of Yann Ehrlacher, although with the Audi very close giving the expected continuity to their performance in free practice. In fact, the 2: 06.441 signed by the current champion with his Lynk & Co was seconded by Tom Coronel, Nathanaël Berthon and Frédéric Vervisch with three of the four Audi RS 3 LMS TCR. Behind them stood Norbert Michelisz with the first of the Hyundai. His three teammates, Thed Björk, Yvan Muller, Gilles Magnus and Mikel Azcona got tickets for Q2, leaving out all the Honda riders. Among them, the worst stopped was Attila Tassi after not marking time due to breakdown and raise the only red flag of the session.
Q2 had a calmer development, without interruptions in the form of a red flag. In turn, it also offered a new change of protagonists, since Norbert Michelisz sneaked into first place with the Hyundai Elantra N TCR after signing a time of 2: 06.044. Gilles Magnus with a memorable last lap placed second, leaving out of Q3 the French Nathanaël Berthon. They did get tickets for the last session Frédéric Vervisch, the leader Jean-Karl Vernay and Thed Björk. With his tenth place, Gabriele Tarquini will start in front in the first heat of a grid in which Mikel Azcona will be second after finishing ninth.
The final Q3 seemed to have an owner with the 2: 06.190 marked by Thed Björk, fourth actor to hit the track at MotorLand. However, Frédéric Vervisch signed a very memorable last sector to beat the Lynk & Co driver by 21 thousandths when it yielded more than three tenths. The Belgian thus scored pole ahead of Björk, while Gilles Magnus took third position on the grid in the main race of the WTCR in Alcañiz. For its part, Norbert Micheliz won the duel in Hyundai code against Jean-Karl Vernay and the Hungarian driver will come fourth.
