“Heartbreaking”, “hilarious” and “round”, these are some of the qualifiers that members of the specialized press have highlighted in the first reactions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. The finale to the trilogy of our darling intergalactic misfits was screened last night as part of a special gala at Disneyland Paris, and with it came incredibly positive feedback that ranks it as the best MCU movie since. Avengers: Endgame.
The film written and directed by James Gunn is not only the culmination of a saga that will go down in history as one of the freshest from Marvel Studios, but it is presumed that this will be the last time we see Star Lord reunited on screen, Gamora, Drax, Mantis, Nebula, Rocket and Groot.
Does it offer a worthy conclusion to his adventures? Will it leave us in a sea of tears? Does Marvel return to the right path with this production? Here the first reactions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3:
Ian Sandwell of Digital Spy:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It’s a brilliant ending to a brilliant trilogy. It’s very funny, emotional and everyone has their highlight moment. Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock is an excellent addition, but the focus is on telling a satisfying ending for the Guardians. I’m going to miss you”.
Markus Trutt of FILMSTARTS.de:
Despite the humorGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 it’s probably the saddest and darkest movie in the MCU and a wonderfully rounded conclusion to James Gunn’s trilogy, where everyone in the fight against an evil (but rather shallow) villain once again has a great time. Have tissues ready!”
Alexander Kardelo of MovieZine:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is, more than ever, Star Wars like a comedy for addicts. Lovable weirdos, great Marvel action, and silly jokes. But nothing can prepare you for all the emotions. Rocket Raccoon’s origin story is both beautiful and heartbreaking.”
Emil Franchi, from Absolute Radio:
“After watching it twice, I can safely say that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 completes the perfect MCU trilogy. It’s heartbreaking and hilarious and I’ve loved this team since the first’ooga shaka‘. A joy for 10 years.
The Atom Review:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: EMOTIVE. SHOCKING. BOLD. James Gunn delivers a true epic that explores themes of love, destiny, and moving on. This isn’t just another MCU movie, it’s one of the BEST sci-fi movies ever! A fitting end to his journey, as he prepares what comes next.”
Maxime Chao, from jeuxactu.com:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It is the best of the trilogy, the most moving but also the most serious. The humor is there (and it’s going well), but the tone has changed. The fights are brutal and the visual effects clean. Adam Warlock is disappointing, but Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary is great.”
Anthea Khalees of Notre Cinema:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Our favorite gang of misfits is back for the ultimate intergalactic adventure that delivers on all its promises. A great show, an emotional lift that touches our hearts, a rhythmic soundtrack and a touch of humor that makes us smile…”
Rory Cashin of JOE.ie:
“I can confirm that I shed tears during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. And that I would gladly see a solo Adam Warlock movie.”
Janire Zurbano, from Cinemania:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It is hilarious, tremendously emotional and the roundest film in the saga. The James Gunn movies are the happy place to come back to in the MCU and the volume 3 It’s the perfect, hope-filled culmination for Marvel’s heartiest heroes.”
Jesus Agudo, from eCartelera.com:
“I went with a preconceived idea to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and James Gunn has managed to surprise me for good. She is darker and has even hints of horror, but she is still very funny and with a lot of personality. Rocket and Nebula stand out in a very dignified send-off.”
Matías G. Rebolledo, from The reason:
“He revived the cinema. The closing of James Gunn’s trilogy with his Guardians of the Galaxy is an impressive and very emotional spectacle. One of those that we had almost forgotten with Marvel and that is enjoyed here in stereo. And with effects to match! Truly the best since Avengers: Endgame”.
Valentina Morillo, from The Spanish newspaper:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It has spectacular action set pieces, is fun, entertaining and emotional. It is a perfect and beautiful closure for its characters and the saga. And it’s the best Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame (and Top 3 overall).”
Excited after these first reactions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3? The movie arrives on May 4, 2023 to theaters in Mexico.
