The rivalry between Ferrari and Lamborghini is evident and manifest, even if both manufacturers have products that, being close, are not intended for the same type of customer. Be that as it may, Ferrari has been making too much noise for several weeks with its new Ferrari 296 GT3 and the house of Sant’Agata Bolognese did not want to be left behind when you have a direct competitor on your hands. almost by surprise, Lamborghini Squadra Corse has published the first image of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2the new version of its GT3 vehicle that will see the light of day for the 2023 season.
It is true that the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 was scheduled to debut this yearbut the COVID-19 pandemic and existing regulatory cycles led the Italian firm to modify the execution times of its new car and wait until 2023 to make it debut. A premiere that will take place at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the first round of the IMSA that is traditionally held in January. A perfect scenario for a brand that has a huge interest in the North American market.
Until now, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 data is minimal. The Italian manufacturer had chosen a middle way between developing a new vehicle as BMW has done and limiting itself to an Evo kit, as Audi has done. The solution seems to have been to develop an Evo2 version, with a deeper change. It is indeed understood that the new car could be based on the Lamborghini Huracán STO, but in turn it would allow the teams that compete with the current Huracán GT3 Evo to update their cars.
What does seem clear that whatever the solution taken by Lamborghini, the competitive cycle of this new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 will be four years, until the end of 2026. However, there is still no official presentation date and it is not that this first image in the shadows reveals many secrets of the new car. Yes indeed, the new GT3 from the house of Sant’Agata Bolognese promises to be just as radical as its predecessor.
The great unknown is whether the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 will be as successful as the current model, since the version that still competes this year has achieved victories in the most emblematic circuits and events in the world. In this aspect, Lamborghini Squadra Corse wanted to wink at this success story in the GT3 category and in the text that accompanied the photo they have assured: «Our story began in April 2015 with our first GT3 win at Monza. The STORY continues…».
