The new generation of the BMW 4 Series Coupé has been fully exposed. During the last months, we have been able to closely follow the entire development process of the new 4 Series Coupe thanks to the multiple spy photos obtained by our photographers and there have even been several leaks. However, none of these leaks has been as important as the one presented in this article.
Specifically, what we see in the images that accompany these lines of text is a part of the future catalog of the BMW 4 Series Coupé 2021. And it is that, even, the color palette for the bodywork that will be available at the time of the launch of the renewed German coupe has been exposed. That said, let’s take a look at the exterior design of the new generation 4 Series with coupe bodywork.
The influence of the BMW Concept 4 is remarkable. The new grille with large dimensions and a more vertical shape powerfully attracts attention. We cannot ignore the new optical groups that, as standard, will use LED technology. In addition, the side air intakes of the front bumper will provide more strength and presence. Its silhouette is very fluid while the rear optics also adopt a new design. In short, the new 4 Series Coupé adopts the new BMW design philosophy.
The project is known internally with the code G22. It will be supported by the same architecture of the BMW 3 Series that we can currently find in dealerships. However, the new 4 Series Coupé will bring with it major improvements to make the most of the capabilities of the CLAR platform. Compared to the 3 Series, the body height will be reduced, the rear track width will be increased, the center of gravity will be lower and numerous reinforcement parts will be installed in the chassis.
The new generation of the 4 Series family will consist of a total of three body variants: Coupe, Cabrio and Gran Coupé. The mechanical offer will be made up of a selection of diesel and gasoline engines. All of them can be found in the Series 3 range. The 48-volt lightweight hybrid technology (MHEV) will also make an appearance to reduce fuel consumption levels as well as CO2 emissions.
Depending on the chosen engine we will find both a manual gearbox and an automatic transmission. There will also be propulsion versions, i.e. rear-wheel drive, such as xDrive all-wheel drive. The range will be crowned in the not too distant future by the new BMW M4 Coupé.
When will it be presented? The debut in society of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé is set for next June. More specifically on June 2, 2020. Initially, and based on the official advancements shown by BMW, we can expect the debut of the coupe variant. However, we cannot rule out that he shares the stage with the new 4 Series Convertible, that is, the convertible variant that will have a canvas roof.
