The FIAT Panda will undergo a total transformation. The new generation will burst onto the scene in 2024 and will have a very close technical relationship with the new Citroën C3. A model that, although it will have a global focus, in Europe will only be marketed in a 100% electric version. It will be made in Serbia.
The long-awaited generational change Fiat Panda still looms distant. Despite being very old, the FIAT model continues to reap extraordinary sales figures and remains one of the clear benchmarks in its segment in the competitive European market. Especially in Italy. In any case, and despite the company’s plans to keep the current Panda in production until 2026, a comprehensive renovation is necessary.
FIAT continues to work at full capacity on the ambitious strategic plan that was launched once the creation of Stellantis materialized. And although at the moment the priority is to improve sales of the new electric FIAT 500, the Italian manufacturer is finalizing the details in parallel for the launch of the Panda generational change project.
FIAT Panda 2025, a totally new and 100% electric model
The model that we can currently find in dealerships is manufactured in a Stellantis facility in Pomigliano d’Arco (Italy). The new FIAT Panda 2025 will not bear the “Made in Italy” seal. The process of serial production will take place in Kragujevac (Serbia). In this plant the disappeared FIAT 500L has been manufactured.
Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, signed an agreement with the Serbian president in the summer of 2021 for the production of a new electric vehicle. An agreement that contemplates an investment of 190 million euros for the modernization of the factory.
FIAT Panda 2025, a design signed by Albine
The process of design of the new Panda is led by François Albine. A designer known in the industry for having been in the Renault Group and, above all, for having been a key player in the creation of the new electric Renault 5 that will burst onto the scene in a short time.
One of the main unknowns about the new Panda has to do with the body style it will adopt. The initial idea was to create a production version of the FIAT Centoventi Concept. However, new information indicates that this will not be the case. FIAT has finally opted for a path that allows the model to be positioned as a spiritual successor to the aforementioned Punto.
Beyond the appearance that the new Panda may have, it is in the mechanical section where things get really interesting. FIAT is facing the project with the aim of making it a global model. In addition to Europe, it will also be marketed in South America. And more specifically in MERCOSUR. However, in the European market the new Panda will only be available in a 100% electric version.
Technically it will be closely related to the new Citroën C3, a model scheduled for 2024. It will be supported by the CMP platform, an architecture that, in addition to keeping costs contained, will make this commitment to electrification possible. Focusing on the new electric Panda, it will initially be marketed with a 60 kW (82 hp) and a 40 kWh Svolt battery. Later the range will incorporate a 80 kW (109 hp) version and 50 kWh battery with which to improve performance and autonomy.
Release date of the new FIAT Panda 2025
When will it hit the market? The production of the new Panda is scheduled to start in November 2024. Therefore, it will be in that year when its debut in society will take place. It will arrive at European showrooms as a 2025 model.
