The boxer from Guadalajara will face Golovkin on September 17 in a fight in which the Mexican boxer will exhibit his super middleweight titles from the World Boxing Organization, the International Boxing Federation, the World Boxing Council and the World Boxing Association.
“My goal in this fight is to retire him. He knows that I come to this fight stronger and more mature, at my best (…) When I finish this press conference I am going to go to the gym to prepare like a beast because I just want to fight against him”, added the holder of a record of 57 wins, 39 by knockout, two losses and two draws.
Álvarez and Golovkin met for the first time in 2017, a duel that ended in a draw. A year later they met again in a match that ended with a victory for Álvarez.
Álvarez’s trainer, Eddy Reynoso, affirmed that he prepares his fighter to show his most aggressive version, after in May he suffered the second defeat of his career when he fell to the Russian Dmitry Bivol, in the search of the Mexican for his second title in the light heavyweight division.
“We are going to have a more aggressive fight. From the first round we are going to put pressure on the fight, do what Saúl knows how to do. We will do what we did in the second round to win more clearly, but we will do it even better,” he said.
Golovkin, who boasts a record of 42 wins, 37 on the fast track, one loss and one draw, confessed that plans the trilogy against Álvarez to be the best fight in boxing history.
“September 17 will be an amazing fight for all boxing fans, we will take the sport to another level. It will be the best fight in boxing history, it’s my dream,” he said.
The Kazakh, who will go up from middleweight to super middleweight to face Álvarez, reiterated that he has nothing personal against the Mexican.
“This is an important fight for the world of boxing, however I don’t think we have a personal rivalry as he says. Any account that we have pending, we are going to meet in the ring and we will solve it, “she sentenced.
