Finally, Facebook is launching its new smart glasses or smart glasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban. They are called Ray-Ban Stories and you can already buy them.
One of the most ambitious projects of Mark Zuckerberg’s company is already on sale and, despite not being what was expected, it is a launch that will give much to talk about.
A few days ago, it was announced that this new line of glasses would be available from today, September 9, which started a project in which Facebook and Ray-Ban were working for a considerable period.
The idea, since they were announced, was to separate the phones from the users, as Mark Zuckerberg himself revealed in a video in which he announced the launch of the Ray-Ban Stories:
“The Ray-Ban Stories are an important step towards a future where telephones are no longer a central part of our lives and where there will be no choice between interacting with a device or interacting with the real world.”
On the one hand, it is true that every day we depend more on cell phones, since, practically, they have become a kind of extension of our body and we give them a use that goes beyond making or receiving calls or sending text messages .
Moreover, it could be said that these are the things that we do the least with the telephone, since conversations are more linked to social networks such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, among others that are reaching the market.
But, more than anything else, in reality, every day we depend more on technology, because with each innovation we go further into a field in which we can no longer separate from it.
From this initiative is that, in the same way, the Ray-Ban Stories are being born, a new line of Ray-Ban glasses in collaboration with Facebook with which you can now record videos and take photographs, and share them on any platform through an application called Facebook View.
The design may not be all that innovative, as, at first glance, they look like classic Ray-Ban sunglasses, but these have a pair of front cameras housed in their edges.
In addition, they have a physical button with which you can order the lenses to record a video, and thus have your hands free. Its value is $ 299 and can be purchased at virtually any Ray-Ban store.
As part of this announcement, Facebook shared a clip showing us all the Ray-Ban Stories features:
In this way, finally, the most anticipated project of Mark Zuckerberg is now available as part of his ambitions to enter the augmented reality (AR) market, although, as has been revealed, these lenses do not allow users to view content from augmented reality.
On the other hand, without a doubt, this launch is only a first step towards the development of a new technology that will continue to grow and, for that reason, improve.
We’ll see if this Facebook innovation manages to connect with the audience and position itself in the market, and, above all, if this product can help you generate income for both this social network and Instagram, its sister platform.
