This large stately apartment in Barcelona of almost 300 m2 has undergone a healthy transformation after the express reform -of only 8 days – carried out by Pia Capdevila’s team.
A reform in which partitions have not been thrown nor has a single tile been demolished. His change has been to make the most of what already existed and update it with paint, new coatings such as wallpaper and of course with new furniture.
And the change has been so good for him.

A great house that has been transformed in just 8 days
The almost 300 square meters of this house are spread over three floors and have a large garden and a large terrace on the first floor. In addition to the meters and its outdoor spaces, one of its great attractions is the natural light present in almost all its rooms throughout the day.
With a stately structure, the house has high ceilings and moldings on walls and carpentry, Therefore, the objective of the intervention has been to maintain the stately charm of the building, combining it with a selection and current design in furniture, accessories and textiles.
The condition of the house and its distribution was good, so a major work was not necessary to adapt to the new owners who put themselves in the hands of the interior designer to make a radical change but without annoying works.
In Pia Capdevila’s studio they organized this change so that it would only involve eight days of work. Preliminary painting, wallpaper and custom furniture placement work was done in 3 days and the assembly of both interior and exterior decoration, in 5 days.

In the words of Pia Capdevila “We are faced with a project with a radical change, but only on a decorative level… because the structure of the house was perfect. The key to success was good organization regarding the creation of the project and purchase of products, and a meticulously organized express assembly”.
The owners fully trusted the studio to transform the large spaces into a home and with the premise of seeing the change under the wow factor. From the study, all the existing pieces were removed to replace them with new ones, new shades and wallpaper on the walls and thus it was possible to give a new air with a radical change.

A neutral base: a white tone in tune with the floor of the first floor as a base
For the walls of the three floors, a white tone was chosen to match the floor of the first floor to provide maximum light and, at the same time, subtly highlight the moldings and the original carpentry of the house.
Downstairs
Includes hall, gym, TV room, living room, kitchen and garden.
For the hall, framed by a white glass door with classic lines, Natural wood pieces in a soft color palette were chosen to lighten the space. The use of moldings both in carpentry and in ceilings that are the protagonists of the entire house stands out.

The smallest room on the ground floor is now a small gym, setting up a treadmill and exercise bike on a carpet. And to give a more urban and cosmopolitan touch to this improvised gym, one of the walls was wallpapered with a design that simulates a brick wall in gray tones. For lighting, an industrial-style ceiling light in black has been chosen.

The TV room includes a comfortable sofa with a chaise longue. From this room there is access to the courtesy bathroom that already had neutral tones in its materials, so color was added with the textiles, in this case in grayish blues to match some of the textiles used in the room.

The largest space is the living room, in which the a large one for a rose window on the ceiling, Its large dimensions have allowed it to include a large five-seater corner sofa that generates visual amplitude. This has been supported by two armchairs, two poufs and various auxiliary furniture and lamps that combine different materials.

In the dining room it is located in the area closest to the garden and next to the large glass window, it has been the dining room with a table for eight people with straight lines, crowned with a designer ceiling lamp and a sideboard in the same wood finish and cannage front, to match the one in the living room area, to gain storage.

Taking advantage of the generous dimensions of the space and the entrance of natural light from the dining room, a reading space has been created in one of the corners of the dining room with an armchaira reading lamp, a side table and a painting.

From the entrance there is access to the large kitchen in which all the original furniture has been maintained.

As a novelty, it was created an office area a bespoke bench has been designed with a round table They allow four diners for breakfast. The pale green tone of the kitchen furniture and wall has been combined with a large gingham wallpaper in a tan tone that combines with the linen curtains and blinds chosen for this room.

Being a single-family home, it boasts a large garden that is accessed from the kitchen and the dining room. This space has been divided into two very pleasant living room and dining room environments for family and friends.

The porch that is accessed from the dining room, covered under a metal structure with wicker pergola, has been distributed in the living area with a sofa and armchairs, and outdoor dining room with a table for eight people.
the first floor
It has the main suite with terrace and bathroom, two bedrooms and a bathroom. In access to it, the wooden floor and the light moldings take center stage already in the distributor of the rooms, promoting classic space style contrasted by the new furniture and the contemporary accessories of the rooms. For this floor, intended for the most intimate area of the family, the same decorative premises have been followed in terms of aesthetics as on the ground floor.

The main room or suite has a bedroom, dressing room, bathroom and terrace. The bedroom receives a lot of natural light thanks to the two windows that give access to the terrace.
The great height of the ceilings, also on this floor, has allowed Pia Capdevila to be able to choose a stately canopy bed with metal frame in black as the main protagonist of this room.

Thanks to the large dimensions of the bedroom, it was possible to place a two-seater sofa with a black wooden frame and cannage at the foot of the bed, matching the bedside tables and the storage cabinet that includes a painting by Lidia Masllorens. As a detail, a ceiling lamp was chosen that combines the two finishes that stand out in the bedroom: canage and black.
In the bathroom of the suite, the furniture with simple lines and the black and white accessories and textilesmatching the tones used in the suite.

To furnish the children’s bedroom, they were inspired by a dream space with a contemporary aesthetic, but without losing the stately and classic essence of the house. a space where the four brothers can share a magical space. The high ceilings have allowed to recreate a sky in which two ceiling lamps, warm and original, recreate cotton clouds on two bunk beds with a Montesori structure that hold four beds.

To the bunks, it has been added a custom designed piece of furniture that joins the beds and adds storage space with four hooks that allow you to hang the Follow Me portable lamps, by Inma Bermúdez for Marset, like a child’s wink. A design turned into a design icon that allows warm lighting, ideal for children’s environments.

The composition of cabinets and storage furniture for toys was chosen from individual pieces that were carefully thought out in terms of colors and aesthetics. textiles in soft sky blue tone combined with light natural wood they sweeten the children’s environment.
The children’s bathroom has been designed to be used by several children and has been complemented with children’s air decoration pieces and a storage cabinet to facilitate order.

Second floor
On the second floor, we find a multipurpose room that has been used as a work area. A multipurpose space with lots of light in which it stands out on one of its walls a great bookstore. The space has been divided into two clearly differentiated environments, one as a reading corner with two comfortable designer armchairs and the other as an office area with a large desk for up to four workstations.
