Good people! How are you doing? Here Mattress again this time I bring you an RPG strategy game but with a difference, it is not fantasy, not at least in the sense of magic and a world different from ours, but based on a story parallel to historical events of the ancient Rome, from the hand of the guys from Logic Artists, will they be up to the task? We’ll see!
Expeditions: Rome toIt is currently on Steam at 1659.00 $ARS
escape to greatness
We start the game with a short introduction to our character, given a betrayal in the heart of Rome, our mother decides to embark us to foreign lands to preserve our physical integrity, on the trip we meet several characters who will join us for different reasons, among them a warrior philosopher, a Roman commander, a gladiator and a spy who hides that she is a man for a few hours (if it weren’t for the fact that she is an agressor, I would find it even funny).
It turns out that the best way to earn a name in the Roman army is to travel to other lands to conquer them and as one thing leads to another we end up in a kind of elite team of the Roman Empire, which is initially in charge of missions of sabotage and elimination of primary objectives, it seems to me a fresh story, in addition to being combined with real historical events.
What’s new Old man?
Games like this are nothing new, so why should you like this one? Well, first of all, because it leaves the fantasy genre in terms of magic and magical worlds, the game takes place in ancient Rome and has strong historical references (although our character and the events we carry out are, mostly fictitious).
Another thing to highlight is that the game’s mechanics, which although they may seem a bit intimidating at first (the first battle explains a spectrum of these mechanics quite well), are nonetheless easy to learn. for those who played Divinity Original Sin 2 (great game) it may seem to you that it has a similar touch, especially in combat, this is so since the people who made this game collaborated with the developers of TWO 2, so if they look similar to you, it’s not a coincidence.
On the other hand, there is the legion system, which, although it is a numbers game after all, becomes interesting because it goes beyond the classic battle and we act as a commander of a legion to conquer territories on the general map. . On the general map, it should also be noted that we will have to manage the amount of food and water we have, if we run out of food things can get… a bit complicated.
Another thing that I found interesting are the classes that the game offers, all based on Roman units and that differ well from each other.
Finally, to close this section, comment that the decisions we make throughout the campaign HAVE CONSEQUENCES, and are not just filler to give the main character a good or bad alignment, as the game progresses and the decisions we make we can have 6 different endings, this is great because it obviously adds replayability, which is no small thing.
The battle of legions that I mentioned before, everything is decided according to the numbers we have and the cards we choose
let’s talk graphics
To start this section, I want to say that the optimization it brings is genius, it works super smoothly on a mid-end pc, that always adds up points.
It uses Unreal Engine, which is why it has excellent visual quality and effects, the movements of the characters are fluid, the death animations are dynamic, which is why it depends on how we defeat our opponent, it can even fly away (I recommend it). I had a great time testing the physics when I defeat an opponent), the weather effects are also great, the truth is that the graphics section is very, very good, and the music accompanies but it doesn’t blow your mind, as I say, accompanies and does not bother, a huge plus in which many titles of this style fail.
