Elon Musk does not stop his activity on Twitter. After the unfortunate —and already deleted—tweet comparing the Prime Minister of Canada to Hitler, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has once again shared a new publication —this time more harmless— in the form of a meme. The new tweet is related to a popular conspiracy theory about the founder of Bitcoin: Satoshi Nakamoto. Specifically, it shows an image where the logos of four major technology companies appear: Samsung, Toshiba, Nakamichi and Motorola. The curious thing about the image is that the first initials of the names of both companies are highlighted. Together, they create the name of the supposed creator of the popular cryptocurrency.
The conspiracy meme that Elon Musk has shared is not new. According futuristicthe picture first appeared in 2017, in a Medium post covering a crazy theory related to aliens and why Bitcoin could be an alien creation. Musk, while he doesn’t seem to share this strange belief, he does. has claimed on more than one occasion that Nakamoto is not the real name of the creator of Bitcoin.
In fact, the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has always been in doubt. Different media and researchers have suggested that the creator of the cryptocurrency is not a person from Japan, but that they are, in fact, a group of people. Elon Musk, for his part, highlighted at the end of 2021 that the creator who hides under the pseudonym of Nakamoto could be Nick Szabo, American computer and cryptographic. “You can look at the evolution of ideas before the launch of bitcoin and see who wrote about those ideas,” said the CEO of Tesla in an interview with the lex fridman podcast last December.
Elon Musk does not stop trusting Bitcoin despite the dubious identity of its creator
with the tweet, Elon Musk reaffirms his theory that the name of the creator of Bitcoin is nothing more than a pseudonym, and that the person behind it created that fictitious name thanks to the aforementioned four companies. This, however, has not made the tycoon stop trusting the cryptocurrency.
Elon Musk, in fact, has been open to accept bitcoin as a payment method so that users can buy Tesla vehicles. The businessman, let us remember, activated this form of transaction at the beginning of 2021, but eliminated it just weeks later due to the high level of contamination caused by the mining of the Crypto. Finally, in mid-2021, it confirmed that it would once again accept Bitcoin as a payment method. As long as, yes, there is a use of at least 50% clean energy by the miners.
