The 2021 MotoGP season has not offered, at least so far, a title fight as close as in previous years. The good work of Fabio Quartararo has placed the Yamaha rider in a very favorable position with five races remaining and only problems or mistakes by the Frenchman can fuel the fight for a championship that seems to be very defined. However, lThe premier category lives from each race, each Grand Prix and on each circuit there are multiple alternatives and the numerous and diverse candidates for victory. And so the eight club was born of MotoGP.
Fabio Quartararo, Pecco Bagnaia, Jack Miller, Brad Binder, Maverick Viñales, Miguel Oliveira, Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín they form the club of winners of a Grand Prix in 2021. A select group to which Pecco Bagnaia has joined in the last term after winning the Aragon GP, which was his first MotoGP victory. The Ducati rider was proclaimed the eighth different winner in a season in which only Quartararo (5) and Miller (2) have been able to repeat their triumph. Yamaha, Ducati, KTM and Honda are the manufacturers that share these triumphs so far.
Although eight different winners represent a remarkable number, there are still big names that have not achieved a triumph. In fact, the current champion Joan Mir has not managed to climb to the top of the podium despite finishing six times in the ‘top 3’. Neither has Johann Zarco, even if he has four second-place finishes on his record this season. Álex Rins is Suzuki’s other asset to get his first win of the year, while Aleix Espargaró is Aprilia’s main option to win a race. The two Spanish riders took the podium at Silverstone, a race in which Fabio Quartararo achieved his fifth win.
