The role of Edie Falco in Avatar 2: The path of water It’s middling, but with the way James Cameron’s epic saga is unfolding, it’s very likely that we’ll see more of the actress’s character – villainous General Frances Ardmore – in subsequent films. But, at least in this installment, her appearances, scattered over three hours, are very sporadic. Falco, however, had already filmed his interventions on the tape many years ago, so he was surprised when he learned that the Na’vi adventure would only be released in 2022.
It was in an interview during the television program The view that the interpreter, also known for her leading role in the series The Sopranos, revealed that her collaboration with James Cameron had happened 4 years ago, so she stopped following the project and did not remember it for a long time. So much so that she even thought that the film had not been well received at the box office. These were her words (via):
«I saw the first one when it premiered, and that was a long time ago. And the second Avatar, the one that is going to be released, I filmed it I think four years ago. I’ve been busy doing things and someone mentioned Avatar and I thought, ‘Oh, I guess it came out and it didn’t do very well.’ Because I hadn’t heard anything. I thought, ‘Oh, that often happens!’”

Later, the actress added:
“And recently someone said to me, ‘Oh, Avatar is coming out!’ And I said: ‘Hasn’t it been released yet?’”
It is well known that James Cameron spent a lot of time creating the sequel to the original film that he released in 2009. He wanted to have every detail under control to make sure the quality was as good as possible, and although Edie Falco’s role in avatar 2 does not involve scenes with a motion capture suit, surely the filmmaker wanted to be ahead of the filming to avoid setbacks.
To this we must add that the production went through several changes and delays in its release date, all caused by the time spent perfecting the technology to portray the world of Pandora, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.
