Veterans of the place, especially those with a touch device, will fondly remember Microsoft Edge. The browser-based on the EdgeHTML engine had sublime integration with Windows Ink and allowed us to work better with webs. It is one of the shortcomings that the current Chromium-based Microsoft Edge had and that is being corrected more and more every day.
Dominate the web with Microsoft Edge and Windows Ink
For the time being, new arrivals in this area are available on the Canary and Dev channels. The team has announced a couple of significant enhancements to browser handwriting. This update is now available on the Microsoft Edge Canary and Dev channels, bringing some new features for Edge Insiders.
“We have heard feedback about the writing experience on Edge. Especially in PDF files where writing feels a bit imprecise. There have also been complaints that Edge was not able to distinguish between the stylus and the finger to allow for touch scrolling while writing with the stylus. We have addressed these issues while continuing our commitment to providing the best inking experience on the web, ” explained the Edge Insider team.
The main novelty of this update is the ability to disable handwriting with our fingers. This means that the browser will automatically disable handwriting if we use a stylus. This allows users to scroll or scroll through the pages with their fingers.
In addition to this, the company is adding a new “Draw” feature. With this update, users will now be able to manually enable or disable touch inking. Microsoft says that this option is designed for users who want to control ink in screenshots and PDF files.
Finally, Microsoft Edge will also have ink stroke quality improvements to improve the experience of writing or drawing in PDF documents. The browser will now take advantage of the power of Microsoft’s ink library on the web to provide smoother ink strokes.
