- The Chilean Football Federation says that the player was poorly included and claims the points that would give him the pass to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
- Ecuador rejects the accusations.
- FIFA decides this Friday.
The Chilean Football Federation said this Thursday that if the Ecuadorian team disputes the 2022 Qatar World Cup, “the World Cup will be stained.”
He also said that there is “vast evidence” that demonstrates the falsification of the documents of the player Byron Castillo, who would be Colombian, and not Ecuadorian.
Through its lawyers, the Chilean federation said that not considering the evidence on Castillo’s nationality “would be something scandalous.”
According to FIFA, the resolution on the subject will be published on Friday June 10 on the website of the governing organization of world football.
The expectation is great in several countries, since it could alter the South American teams that would go to Qatar.
Until now, Ecuador was going to accompany Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, but this could change since Colombia and Chile could climb positions if there were sanctions or deduction of points for the team led by Gustavo Alfaro.
There is also Peru, a team that was in fifth place behind the four classified and must play the revalidation against Australia on Monday, June 13.

FIFA: Ecuador is left without a World Cup?
According to the Chilean newspaper La Tercera, the account made by the Federation of that country is that Castillo played matches against Paraguay, Venezuela, Chile, Uruguay and Bolivia.
In such a case, if FIFA punished Ecuador by subtracting the points obtained in those matches, Chile would add 6 more and qualify Qatar directly.
However, nothing is resolved yet and all are versions that come from Chile.
What is concrete is that in May FIFA agreed to analyze the case because it found enough information to study what happened.
Opinions are divided, some sources say that Chile will be favored, and others say that there is no evidence to leave Ecuador without a World Cup.
One thing is certain: the groups have already been drawn and that works against Chile’s chances.
The lawyer for the Chilean Federation acknowledged this: “We delivered a large amount of evidence; the player is clearly Colombian, but we know that Qatar is close and what we ask for has never happened before. If we had more time, a scenario without the drawn groups, I have no doubt that we would have a decision in favor of Chile”.
For the Chilean lawyer, “from the beginning the Ecuadorian Federation knew of Castillo’s nationality. That’s why they separated him from a call to the sub 20. They never did anything.
The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) says that “the qualification for Qatar was obtained legitimately on the field and respecting all the principles and values that emanate from sport, as well as all legal regulations in force in the Ecuadorian State and international sports law.”
