Data for the third quarter show that domestic licenses for One Piece grossed nearly 5 billion yen (about $38.9 million), while Dragon Ball was in second place with more than 4 billion yen (31.1 million dollars).
The third quarter of 2022, adding the profits generated by Pretty Cure and Sailor Moon, they left Toei about 12 billion yen (93.4 million dollars).

But abroad, Dragon Ball continues to dominate without issue. In international licenses, the story of Goku and his companions managed to raise 8.1 billion yen ($63 million), while One Piece pirates got only 3.8 billion yen (29.5 million USD).
In accordance with Comic Book, Dragon Ball floats on top despite the lack of anime updates, but One Piece shines with its series. “It is attracting headlines every day with the final act of the manga or the stellar animation of the anime,” indicates the specialized portal.
“So if Goku isn’t careful, Luffy could beat him in every category at Toei in no time.” emphasizes Comic Book.
The perennial success of Dragon Ball and One Piece for Toei Animation
In 2022, Dragon Ball premiered Dragon Ball Super: Superhero, with the battle of Goku, Piccolo and their companions against the Red Ribbon Army. That year, the 15th One Piece film also debuted in theaters. One Piece Film: Red.
Dragon Ball was created by the master Akira Toriyama into manga in 1984, being published in Shonen Jump. He made his jump to anime in 1986, at the hands of Minoru Okazaki and Daisuke Nishio for Fuji Television, always with Toei Animation as a studio.
For its part, One Piece is Eiichiro Oda, created as a manga for Shonen Jump in 1997, and also developing in anime since 1999, with Konosuke Uda as director.
