It seems that he was not such a good father…
Since Vegeta was introduced as a villain, he has done many bad things throughout his life, but nothing compares to the crime against his wife and son in Dragon Ball Z. Before continuing, we recommend you read the last chapters of this work that they find each other available on the online service MangaPlus by ShueishaWell, we’ll cover some major spoilers..
In Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball chapter 347, Vegeta had just decimated Android 19 and was chasing after Android 20 aka Dr. Gero, after 20 ran away from the fight following 19’s death it looked like this saiyan had decided to be an ally of the Z Fighters. However, when Vegeta found him, a private plane was flying overhead that it was transporting Bulma and her newborn baby, Trunks, so Dr. Gero used that to his advantage.
Relying on the heroic nature of the Z Fighters, Dr. Gero shot the plane down and flew away in an instant immediately after the chaos that had just ensued. Instead of making any effort to save his son and his wife, Vegeta launched himself after Dr. Gero because he was hell-bent on killing him. in his mind, this act would reaffirm his superiority as a saiyan over androids and humans.
Vegeta declares in his fight against the androids that he did not mind seeing his baby and his wife die in order to defeat Dr. Gero in Dragon Ball Z.
While it could have been argued that Vegeta was only focused on the mission and went after the greater evil in an effort to save the world, that argument is thrown out entirely after he explicitly states that he doesn’t care if Bulma and Trunks live or not. When Future Trunks, who joined the fight a little later, saw his father’s inaction, he was furious that Vegeta allowed those closest to him to die without lifting a finger.
What’s worse, is that Vegeta at this time was a Super Saiyan, which meant that he had the strength and speed to save Bulma and Trunks and then go after Dr. Gero without losing ground. Essentially, Vegeta could have just saved them like it was nothing, he just didn’t want to. Vegeta has done some terrible things in his past, but committing acts of evil while in the service of an intergalactic tyrant is a far cry from watching his family die in front of him and not caring in the least.
It’s one thing to be a world conqueror or kill strangers in search of eternal life, but letting people so close to him die unnecessarily is truly evil, especially when it would have been incredibly easy to save them, which shows that Vegeta’s worst crime. in Dragon Ball he was against his wife and son.
Vegeta has become a great ally in Dragon Ball Super now.
A couple of chapters ago, we learned that Vegeta’s Ultra Ego becomes stronger the more damage he takes, but it wasn’t until the fight against Granola that the Saiyan Prince was able to use this new form of his in a real battle. However, the true power of him remained unshowed, now that Vegeta has recovered and with the full strength of his Ultra Ego, it seems that we will finally see it.
Finally, Vegeta manages to understand how to push his Ultra Ego to the limit, while fighting with Gas.
In the most recent chapter of Dragon Ball Super, we see that Vegeta’s Ultra Ego form is evolving not only through the amount of damage he’s been taking, but also as his body gets used to those attacks. This allows you unleash all his power and fight alongside Gaseven warning Goku not to interfere, as this saiyan has not yet mastered his true Ultra Instinct.
The chapter 85 of Dragon Ball Super begins right after Vegeta was left alone to face Gas, and the more damage Gas deals to him, the more Vegeta’s power grows. He even stops Goku from jumping at one point by revealing that his form is starting to recharge even more and confirms that the fight with Gas is the “ideal stimulant” to evolve his Ultra Ego. However, the only major drawback is still the weakness from before, as the more damage he takes, the less he can keep fighting.
