It seems that Toriyama is always one step ahead…
This article will contain spoilers, if you don’t want to spoil your experience.we recommend you read the last chapters of this work, which are available in the online service of MangaPlus by Shueisha, Well, there will be some details that we will mention to give context to this peculiar detail. Goku Black proved to be one of the strongest villains, if not the strongest in the entire franchise, but he wasn’t the first. In fact, his first appearance seems to date back to Dragon Ball Z.
In Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball chapter 287, Goku and the other Z fighters met on Planet Namek, as they had a mission to find the dragon balls of that world to resurrect their friends who died in a previous battle against a squad of Saiyan villains. Unfortunately, the intergalactic tyrant Frieza was also looking for them and would stop at nothing to get them. In that effort, the tyrant unleashed the strongest team of fighters in the universe at the time, the Ginyu Force, with the Ginyu Force’s leader, Captain Ginyu, being the most powerful among them. When Goku confronted Captain Ginyu, the leader of the villain squad recognized that Goku’s power level far exceeded his own, so he launched an attack that would give Ginyu the advantage he needed not only to defeat Gokubut also to steal every ounce of his strength in one move.
Captain Ginyu used a technique to switch bodies with Goku and then used the Saiyan’s own power to fight the other Z Fighters. and, in this way, obtain the dragon balls for Lord Frieza. This chapter marked the first time an evil Goku was introduced to readers, but as current fans know, it wouldn’t be the last. Zamasu used almost the exact same method to become Goku Black, and actually ran into the same problem as Captain Ginyu as well. When Ginyu inhabited Goku’s body, he did not have access to the full power of the warrior since he was not familiar with that body. Likewise, Goku Black didn’t unlock the full power Goku’s body was capable of until after his first fight with Goku and Vegeta in Trunks’ future. The difference between Zamasu and Ginyu is that Zamasu eventually figured out how to properly handle a saiyan’s energy, while Ginyu was ultimately defeated due to his lack of understanding.
Both Ginyu and Zamasu used the same method to obtain what they considered to be the ultimate power in nearly identical ways., with the only difference being their results. Captain Ginyu was undone by Goku’s body and was defeated by the other Z Fighters as a result, while Zamasu learned all the tricks of the trade and even surpassed the original saiyans with the Super Saiyan Rosé transformation and was not defeated until the King Zeno intervened and destroyed Zamasu along with the entire Trunks universe. Regardless of what happened to either villain though, they both stole Goku’s body and visually turned the Saiyan hero into a despicable villain, with Captain Ginyu doing it first, proving that the original ‘Goku Black’ from Dragon Ball came long before. Super.
Goku Black had a small appearance in Dragon Ball Z
The villain Goku Black is perhaps the deadliest and most powerful foe the Dragon Ball heroes have ever faced, as even Goku and Vegeta working together couldn’t defeat him, and while the villain may have been the greatest they’ve ever faced the Z fighters, it was definitely not his first appearance. It is not the most original, since there was already a ‘Goku Black’ long before the god-level baddie in Super.
In Dragon Ball Super Future Trunks Saga, Trunks travels to the alternate past relative to his future in an effort to enlist Goku and Vegeta in the battle against the unstoppable villain who had brought the Earth to its knees: Goku Black. Despite his name and appearance, Goku Black is not actually a version of Goku gone wrong, but was actually a Kai, or deity, called Zamasu who used the dragon balls to switch bodies with Goku in an alternate reality. Zamasu then used the immense power within Goku’s body to cause catastrophic destruction on a planetary scale in his evil mission to eliminate all mortals in existence. And, even though the original idea was used for the Ginyu leader, it’s still terrifying.
