In chapter 84 of Dragon Ball Super he finally embraces his identity as a Saiyan.
Beyond the atmosphere of battle and honor that surrounds the scenarios of a series as epic as Dragon Ball, the characters also deserve their respective attention. Of course, there are the main heroes who have been in charge of showing us how things are done when it comes to saving the day; or, on the contrary, the villains who make even the strongest of their adversaries fear.
But a fact within this environment so immersed in the energy of the confrontations, there is nothing that produces more panic in the enemies than the blue, white and gold colors of the Saiyans’ armor. Each one has been seen to succeed in this characteristic outfit during the series, with the exception of one… Goku.
The good news is that finally the saiyan warrior has debuted with the armor in a recent chapter of Dragon Ball Super. But the question so far is why didn’t he do it sooner?
Frieza Force Armor
In the same way as some civilizations of the ancient world, in the purest style of Ancient Egypt, Greece or Rome, in universe 7 of Dragon Ball there are Saiyans who have formed their own society and military culture. And just as their real-life counterparts can be characterized, Saiyans are known for their genetic traits linked to fighting spirit. Of course, this implies a remarkable effectiveness in battle that could only be fragmented after Frieza destroyed his home planet and forced them to fight for his interests.
But, as in any army, the Saiyans had to define themselves by their clothing, armor and even instruments to facilitate their strategies for war. So, being part of the Frieza Force, they were given unique armor that could contain their full potential on the battlefield. In addition, due to the multiplicity of ways in which the Saiyans developed their abilities, the outfit was suited to their needs and its use depended on them.
In this case, the best known clothing of the Saiyans is the blue suit with white gloves and boots, with a golden plate on the chest. This allowed them to consistently shield themselves from attacks and was quite flexible, to the point of maintaining its form even when a Saiyan transformed into a Great Ape.
Goku finally accepts himself as a saiyan
Retaking dragon ball super chapter 84in which Goku finally uses the saiyan armor after many battles throughout the series, there is a compelling reason to explain this. After knowing the story of Bardockhis father, in his own words, Goku completes the missing link and embraces his saiyan identity. In this way, he is proud of his origins and could be interpreted as admiration for his father and a genuine desire to be like him, including the use of the characteristic Saiyan armor. So Monite is in charge of dressing Goku and Vegeta according to the occasion.
At the same time that Goku demonstrated his Saiyan heritage and developed his fighting skills to the fullest, this kind of epilogue to his tragic story was also a reset for his recognition as part of the Saiyans, since it is the first time in the manga that he is seen wearing the armor.
The only apparent exception was when Goku was wearing something resembling a saiyan battle armor that Bulma created with. Even In Dragon Ball Z chapter 196, both Goku and Gohan come out of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to fight Cell and are dressed in similar armor. But aside from that, Goku changed into a much more suitable gi for him.
On the contrary, in Vegeta it is no surprise since he was one of the main members of the Frieza Force and was constantly seen in his characteristic outfit. In fact, he wore it until Bulma created one especially for him, inspired by the original model seen in the Android Saga.
Even though the time that Goku wears the traditional Frieza Force armor, during chapter 84, is quite brief, it seemed that this was not going to happen in Dragon Ball. Of course, he went back to his costume to face Gas, but the discovery of his Saiyan roots was what convinced the warrior to try the armor and finally consider themselves as part of the Saiyan race.
