Vegeta could keep pushing his Ultra Ego limits to win the battles.
After the events of the Granola the Survivor arc in Dragon Ball Super, things in the series got very interesting for the later fights. Of course, one of the main events that set the course for the heroes was the epic fight against Gas and, of course, it should not be overlooked that Goku’s discovery of his Saiyan roots through Bardock’s flashbacks it also had its impact so that the saiyan finally showed what he was made of.
But the reality is that before this pair of events that directly surround the characters in Toriyama’s work, the issue of Goku and Vegeta’s transformations: Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego. Being one of the most important of the entire series, it is not surprising that these forms have already been discussed as new scales of power within Dragon Ball.
What are Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego?
Before continuing with what concerns us, it should be clarified that these transformations have already been previously addressed by Toyotaro, the co-creator of Dragon Ball, before the doubts of the fans after his presentation.
Both words, both “instinct” and “ego”, are very similar in Japanese. Of course, Toyotaro explained that according to the reading that can be given to the kanji, the instinct responds to the series of movements that it performs with a certain autonomy, unlike the Ultra Ego, which is an act at will.
In this way, transformationsas expected, they enhance the different abilities of Goku and Vegeta but also adapt according to their temperamentsrather than the generic Super Saiyan powers we’ve seen throughout Dragon Ball.
The true power of Vegeta’s Ultra Ego
These new characterizations have really come in handy in the Granola the Survivor arc, although, of course, there were always doubts about how much power they contained. To answer the unknown, Dragon Ball Super showed how far Vegeta was able to go with his Ultra Ego form. And, of course, it has reached a very dangerous limit. This revelation came when Vegeta had to engage in a final fight with Granola in order to defeat Gas. In combat, Vegeta finally showed his own Ultra Instinct form for the first time, as he clarified that this technique had been created by himself and had allowed him to gain more strength as he took damage. He though he has certain problems in terms of combat.
As a true revenge against Gas began, Vegeta and Goku had their respective space to recover. During this time, it was likely that Vegeta could improve his use of the Ultra Ego form, due to him gaining a lot of experience against Granola, as well as being back to full strength from him. In fact, Gas’s attack damaged Vegeta to the point that he not only powered up his Ultra Ego form, but reached a rather self-interested limit.
The events of this fight begin in chapter 85 of Dragon Ball Super, when Vegeta takes the lead in the first half to help Goku figure out how to power up his Ultra Instinct. However, this is where things change for Vegeta, as he becomes much stronger. Once he takes considerable damage from his enemy’s counterattacks, Vegeta transforms it into power..
Of course, Vegeta is aware that the injuries he received in combat make it difficult for him to continue standing, however, Gas was surprised and terrified by this surge of power. Even Vegeta has to exert himself beyond his bodily limits, so he ends up losing consciousness during an attempt to punch Gas with his fists. In this point, Vegeta practically reached the limit of his possibilities to boost his Ultra Ego during the battle; in fact, it is likely that in the future he will use it to render his enemies powerless, just as he does himself. Although, of course, he could also continue to beat this personal record, despite what it means for his body to fight even when he no longer has the energy to continue.
