How to install MIUI 12 manually on a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO mobile
Xiaomi makes things easy for users who want to install an official ROM on their terminal. No need for a computer or complicated processes. You just have to follow the following steps in order and you can have MIUI 12 on your Xiaomi device within a few minutes.
- Download the ZIP file that corresponds to your mobile
- Save the file in the ‘downloaded_rom’ folder. If there is no such folder you must create it in the internal storage with the ‘Files’ application.
- Go to Settings> About phone> System updates and tap the icon with the three dots.
- Click on ‘Select update package’. If this option does not appear, press the MIUI logo 10 times to make it appear.
- Choose the .zip file you downloaded and install it.
This will be enough for the update to start and you can have MIUI 12 when the device restarts. The update should not erase any of the data inside, but it is highly recommended to make a backup of these to avoid losing them if something goes wrong.
If the file you downloaded does not appear when choosing the update package, it means that you have not saved it in the correct place in the storage. Try again by moving it to the base of the directory or creating the folder again.
