I have always enjoyed the warmth and ambiance that candles bring to my home. However, when they are consumed, there remains that small rest of wax that we don’t know what to do with it. Recently, I discovered an amazing way to repurpose these scraps and transform them into something totally new and aromatic.
The key is to collect all those small amounts of wax that we usually throw away. It doesn’t matter if they are from different colors or aromas, because by mixing them, you can create unique and personalized candles. But the best of all is that you can add a special touch by placing tangerine peels in the melted wax broth. The result is a citrus and relaxing aroma that fills your home with freshness.

The process is very simple. Start by melting the remaining wax in a water bath over low heat. While the wax melts, you can prepare the container where you will make your new candle. A glass jar Recycled is perfect, but you can also use silicone molds to give them fun shapes.
Once the wax is completely liquid, add tangerine skins in small pieces. This will not only enhance the aroma, but will also give it a decorative touch if you decide to leave them visible. If you feel like it, you can add a few drops of essential oils to personalize the smell even more.

Place a wick in the center of the container, making sure it is secure. You can use glue or a metal base to hold it in place. Then, carefully pour in the melted wax, leaving a small space at the top. Let the candle cool completely before lighting it.

Another great idea is to use this tangerine and wax mixture to create solid air fresheners. You just need to pour the wax into small molds, such as chocolate molds, and let it cool. These air fresheners are perfect to place in drawers or closets, leaving a fresh and natural aroma.

Since I discovered this technique, I haven’t shot again the remains of my candles: they are a treasure. It’s a simple and inexpensive way to reuse something that would otherwise end up in the trash. In addition, the result is so beautiful and functional that you can even give them as gifts to your friends and family.
