Starting this Thursday, June 1, Spider-Man fans will find the new animated film by the popular wall-climber on commercial billboards. In total, there are 2 hours and 16 minutes that the public must remain seated in their seats, unless they want to leave a little earlier, as soon as the final credits appear on the screen. However, today, leaving a movie theater prematurely is a gigantic risk. And what is that risk? Missing the post-credits scenes that practically all multimillion-dollar superhero films already bring, be they from Marvel or DC, so (in principle) there would be no reason to believe that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the exception.
But calm down! There is no danger of running into any spoilers in this note… Well, just a tiny spoiler (actually, unworthy of the term). This is that, to the surprise of many, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse does not have post-credits scenes.
That’s right, you read right. This second film with Miles Morales / Spider-Man as the protagonist does not have any extra scenes that are shown during or after the final credits. This is a very unusual decision on the part of Sony Pictures; not only because post-credits scenes have become the hallmark of superhero movies and any popular franchise, but also because the original film itself, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), it did have an additional scene. In it we met Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099, a character who in the recently released sequel acquires enormous importance within the plot.
Midway through the end credits Across the Spider-Versethe only thing the public will appreciate is a text card guaranteeing the return of Miles Morales via Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse; upcoming film that, as far as we know, will be the conclusion of a projected trilogy.
In December 2021, producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller announced that Across the Spider-Verse it would be split into two films. And eventually, this “part 2” acquired the title of Beyond the Spider-Versewhich is scheduled for release on March 29, 2024. Excited?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versetitled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Latin America, it is currently exhibited in Mexican theaters. Have you bought your tickets yet?
Antonio G. Spindola I have very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
