The World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that sleep disorders affect almost 40% of the world population. And with regard to Mexico, the National Autonomous Metropolitan University (UNAM) indicates that around 45% of adults have poor quality of dream, something that translates into later problems such as drowsiness or tiredness, to name a few. So what to do to sleep better? A simple option that we have at hand is to listen to a songbecause it is science itself that supports this method to relax.
Patricio Calatayud, an academic from the Faculty of Music of the UNAM, explains that the music it helps us deal with stress, in addition to facilitating the relaxation process, one that in turn allows us to rest better at night or during the time each of us takes a nap.
Although each of us can choose the music or songs that help us calm down minutes before going to sleep, various scientific investigations have agreed that classical music is a good genre to relax and, consequently, have a restful sleep.
But recently a study was released that deciphered what song is the best for sleep. Do you want to know what it is?
This is the most relaxing song in the world, according to science
The worries and activities of adult life can seriously alter our quality of sleep, leading us to gradually experience disorders such as insomnia or difficulty sleeping, which would greatly affect our performance the next day. So that this literally does not take away your dreamthere is a song what can you hear before sleepwhich has an impressive relaxing effect, according to science.
A study by Radox Spa, carried out with the neuromarketing company Mindlab International, led by Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson, concluded which is the musical theme that calms people the most, and it does so by up to 11% over other previously chosen songs .
The experiment that was carried out consisted of stressing the volunteers by solving puzzles against the clock, then monitoring their brain activity and having them listen to certain songs.
After this test and having measured and analyzed the brain activity of each study participant, the result was that the best song for chill out was “Weightless”, by the British duet Marconi Union, a musical theme that, in addition to being the one that most calmed the volunteers in the experiment, was also the most effective for enjoying a massage.
Its soft sounds of piano, guitar and electronic versions of natural sounds were factors that favored the choice of said song.
According to the findings, Marconi Union’s “Weightless” was found to help reduce heart rate, as well as blood pressure and cortisol levels, a song that the researchers who conducted the test said if listened to for five minutes in a row, the listener is likely to fall asleep.
The United States Department of Health and Human Services indicates that sleep well reduces the frequency of suffering from diseases, keeps our body weight stable, reduces the risk of developing diabetes or heart disease, reduces stress and makes us think more clearly and perform well during the day, among other benefits. Therefore it is essential that we have good quality sleep, and if that involves listening to a song or more, go ahead.
If you have frequent sleep problems or do not sleep well, see a doctor.
