Business issues and those that involve the management of human talent attract a lot of attention throughout the world. An example is the disabled IBM employee who sued the company for not raising his salary after 15 years of service.
Life today has changed, and with that people are more interested in social and inclusive issues.
In this sense, according to Sodexo, today, being an inclusive company and open to diversity is a requirement, since the new generations have shown that they feel much more attracted to those organizations that maintain as a priority giving a good image, by At the same time, they try to have a happy team committed to their company.

For this reason, the current workforce is more observant of these companies, and its importance is that offering a work space free of prejudices is beneficial for both the company and its collaborators. Disabled IBM employee sues company
The story of a man who has been disabled by illness for 15 years, sued IBM, the company where he worked for discrimination, since he says that his salary has not been increased since then.
According to local media, the story is about Ian Clifford, who studied at King’s College London.
As mentioned by the media, in 2000 he started working for Lotus Development before it was incorporated by IBM, but he went on sick leave in September 2008 and was still out of work in 2013 when he filed the lawsuit.
The accuser’s statements argued that he was a victim of disability discrimination by the technology company, since he ensures that his salary did not increase in the last 15 years that he had been on leave.
The data shared by the worker to the media receives 67 thousand dollars and his salary is guaranteed until he is 65 years old, which means that he will receive 1.9 million dollars.
In this sense, he assures that this will not be “generous enough”, since his salary of 67 thousand dollars will “wither” over time, due to inflation.
Although determined to go to court, Paul Housego dismissed his claim and explained that “the allegation is that the absence of a salary increase constitutes disability discrimination because it supposes less favorable treatment than that given to non-disabled people.”
“This allegation does not hold because only the disabled can benefit from the plan. It is not disability discrimination, that the Plan is not even more generous, ”she explains.
Likewise, the authority said that “even if the value of the 50,000 pounds per year were to be halved in 30 years, it would still be a very important benefit.”
The judge concluded that the conditions of something that is given as a benefit to the disabled and that is not available to the disabled “cannot be less favorable treatment related to the disability. It’s favorable treatment, no less.”
This story shows how people are increasingly interested in social issues that occur in life, such as discrimination, inclusion, among others.
