Mexican actor Diego Luna, a historic defender of demilitarization, shared a statement from the NGO “Security without war” that speaks out against the intention of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to integrate the National Guard (GN) into the Ministry of Defense National (SEDENA).
Luna made her opinion public on Twitter, generating reactions of all kinds among his followers and taking his name to the top of the trends this August 10.
AMLO is in the middle of the conversation on the networks after announcing the Government’s idea in relation to the GN is integrated into SEDENA, separating itself from the civil command by which this armed branch of the federal government was born.
On Monday, AMLO said in his morning that they aim to integrate the GN into SEDENA “for the sake of national security.”
The idea generated, as expected, reactions of all kinds in the citizenry and, very especially, in the political opposition.
Even more so when the President said that if the reform cannot be carried out due to the blockage in the Congress of the Union, he will do so through a presidential decree.

Many politicians spoke out against it. One of them was former President Vicente Fox, who said: “God catches us confessed.”
The communicator Víctor Trujillo also spoke about the issue and said that López Obrador is a “Vile liar” for urging changes of this nature by decree.
In favor of AMLO, Citlalli Hernández, General Secretary of the Morena caucus, spoke out, criticizing the statements of the PAN representatives who oppose “the paths of pacification.”
A voice that was expected was that of Diego Luna, actor who has always been against militarization.
Finally this Wednesday, on Twitter, the actor based in the United States shared a statement signed by the #SeguridadSinGuerra initiative.
The text says, among other things, that “The coup by Andrés Manuel López Obrador against the constitution must be prevented.”
“For years, military expansion has been an unconstitutional decision. Felipe Calderón’s war, Enrique Peña Nieto’s Internal Security Law: any participation of the armed forces in public security tasks in fact or in law violates the Constitution, ”he adds.
The text signed by the NGO also says that “neither Calderón or Peña dared what AMLO has done and announced,” referring to the president’s announcement of advancing by decree. “Little that cares about the constitution,” warns the statement.
In the responses to Twitter, some applaud the decision and others they criticize that Luna has not drafted any statement and has limited himself only to sharing the text of “Security without war”.
The NGO says in the text supported by Luna that the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico rule on AMLO’s decision and calls on society to demonstrate against it.
