Knowing the context of violence, a DiDi driver in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, decided to show his passenger his face and introduce himself to provide security to a female passenger, thereby providing an exemplary experience.
Systematic violence against women reaches public spaces and public transport is no exception, and constitutes a barrier for women to access safe mobility. According to UN Women and Greenpreace, 10 million trips are made, of which 73.9 percent are by public transport and nine out of ten women have been attacked in these movements.
As a form of prevention, women seek alternatives such as modifying their routines and seeing new transport, DiDi, Uber and Cabify are positioned as part of the options. From 2017 to 2020, 457 investigation folders were opened against different app drivers.
