This exciting auction has gained prominence because it features some valuable and historically significant comics, but some of them are especially highly rated, including the first appearances of spider-man Y Batmantogether with the first numbers of Superman, Batman Y wonder-womanbut all in version 5.0 or lower, with the two exceptions are a X Men #1 which has an 8.5 and amazing copy with a rating of 9.8 from Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1; It should be noted that all ratings were provided by CGC.
“It’s rare to have even one of these amazing books featuring the first appearances of these culturally iconic heroes in one collection, let alone all of them”said the CEO and founder of Goldin, Ken Goldin. “We are extremely honored to be able to showcase so many mainstays of the comic book world in one sale. When you add to that Gil Kane’s one-of-a-kind original Green Lantern art, this auction will bring many to the hobby.”
So, as you’ve probably heard, the comic book market has been experiencing record growth lately, evidenced by another multi-million dollar sales including two copies of Action Comics #1 (CGC 8.5 for $3.25 million, which in hindsight seems like an absolute bargain), Captain America Comics #1 (CGC 9.4 for $3.12 million), Marvel Comics #1 (CGC 9.2 for $2.4 million) and Batman #1 (CGC 9.4 for $2.22 million); plus the highest rated copy of Superman #1 it recently sold for $5 million, in part due to how rare high-quality copies of that particular book are.
Just as right then, that issue broke the record for the highest paid single comic book over $1 million, in September 2021, a rated copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 sold for a record $3.6 million, The Amazing Fantasy #15 in the collection Goldin didn’t match that copy’s 9.6 rating, but at 8.0, it’s still in very good condition, given what the book is between it and Detective ComicsIt wouldn’t be surprising if this auction hits $5 million or so by the time all is said and done. So according to experts, it is very likely that around May 21, when the sale closes, this auction will break some records.
