The appearance of Covid-19 directly affected the activity economical mexicana, a fact that will not happen again with the new Ómicron variant.
The pandemic caused by the arrival of the covid-19 during 2020 had considerable repercussions on the activity economical worldwide, giving a strong blow to the economy of various industries (some more than others), such as those dedicated to transportation and mobility such as airports, the automotive industry, tourism and others. According to the graph of Statistical where it shows the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on GDP growth (gross domestic product) in some countries of America Latin, during 2020 this fell approximately 10 percent on average, which during 2021 managed to recover and even exceed its value compared to 2019 and is expected to maintain its pre-pandemic figures during 2022.
Different factors to consider have been of vital importance for the international economic recovery, among them, the decrease in cases, the effective vaccination process and the return of consumer confidence to return to make their daily purchases in their favorite stores, in addition to the acquisition of products and services in the previous daily life.
Despite this, the impact of Covid has left a strong track record in its wake and, considering that the pandemic is not over yet, there are all kinds of assumptions about what will happen in the near future due to the arrival of new variants, including Omicron.
Although the Mexican population has recently managed to break the record for infections by Covid-19, mainly attributable to the arrival of the variant Omicron to the country, the secretary of the interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, maintained that the activity economical will be able to maintain itself, thus ruling out that the country finds itself in a slowdown scenario again.
Likewise, the federal official mentions that, unlike other waves of infections due to the disease, there are no increases in hospitalizations or the number of deaths, so it is most likely that the Mexican economy does not represent any decline.
“We believe that despite the increase in cases, economic activity will continue and that there will be no economic slowdown.”
“Fortunately, the constant is very little, the percentage increase in the number of hospitalized and mortality, lethality, with this virus is reduced. The daily reports have had zero deaths for several days and stability is maintained in terms of the number of deaths, ”says López Hernández at a press conference from the National Palace.
