From the creators of “we’re going to pay you overtime with pizza”, comes “we’re going to pay your bonus with a pizza”. A “conversation” between Irma (from Human Resources) and an employee of hers went viral on social networks, in which she informs him that she is going to receive a pizza as a bonus.
In December, by law and before by custom, an “extra” payment is received and it is part of the benefits that workers are entitled to. According to article 87 of the Federal Labor Law (LFT), it indicates that this must be given before December 20 and be equivalent to 30 days of minimum salary.
What happens when the bosses want to “pay” in another way? The alleged conversation between Irma from Human Resources and an employee made it clear that this could continue to happen.
“Good afternoon, we let you know that your Christmas bonus has arrived. I suggest you go through it before it gets cold.”
How can money get cold? the clerk wondered. Meanwhile, the supposed Irma explained that she was not moneybut a pizza. Yes, the young man received a pizza as bonus. Without knowing, he added: “Oh, ok, I didn’t understand that apart from my Christmas bonus they bought us pizzas.” But he got the answer that no one wants to read or hear: “I think you are not understanding me, pizza is your bonus”.
Obviously, the young man could not believe what he was reading. In addition, he reminded her that it was illegal and went against the Federal Labor Law. Still,
The truth about the young man who receives a pizza as a bonus
The publication generated thousands of reactions, especially on Twitter where it came to light. However, there is a detail that only one user of the social network noticed: it’s a fake conversation.
It is an application called whatsmockwhere you can create fake conversations and they look almost real, however, the watermark gives away the lie.
But, that did not stop netizens from taking the situation very personally. Some of the comments were: “the fact that this conversation is false does not mean that there are jobs like this”. “It’s a nice way of saying ‘We don’t pay attention to that stuff here’” or as a joke: “What they don’t know is that you work at Domino’s Pizza. There they pay for the fortnight with pizzas”.
Whether it’s a joke or not Can they give you food or groceries as a Christmas bonus? The short answer is NOT. Under no conditions can companies condition the exchange of money as a bonus concept for some other gratuity in kind.
In other words, not even a turkey, a leg or a pizza can be given to the workers under the concept of bonus. It also does not apply to grocery vouchers.
And yes, even if you have not completed a year working at your job, the person in question has the right to be paid a proportional part of the Christmas bonus.
This case only reveals the bad practices that some companies and businesses have with their collaborators by not paying them what corresponds to them and that they are completely outside the law.
