The complex mind of Harley Quinn, clown princess of Gotham
Harley Quinn was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for “Batman: The Animated Series”. Since then she has remained one of the public’s favorite characters. Although, initially, this was nothing more than a henchman of the Jokerhis changing attitude, his combat skills with which he has defeated other villains and his personality has allowed him to carve out his own path alone.
Although, as we mentioned, the most common version of Harley has her struggling between a heroine and an anti-heroine rolethere are others much more chaotic in the direction of a villain path, as we can see in the Suicide Squad Comic #1: Blaze.
In this comic we have been able to observe how Harley loses her mind and kills a man because he simply told her no. This tells us a lot about how complex this girl’s mind is. However, being a non-canon installment, it is possible to exaggerate all kinds of moments and create situations that give us a better perspective of the character’s real identity without damaging the main version of him in the DC universe.
Ever since Harley ditched the Joker, has lived all kinds of adventures while maintaining complex relationships with other villains, such as Catwoman and Posion Ivy, to name a few. Thus, in the main versions of the character we have seen her grow, develop and explore her mind to discover her true identity. While, in non-canonical series like this one that belongs to DC’s black label, we can appreciate a more raw and violent side of it.
