It’s true, no one is born knowing how to deal with failure, and in the case of the actor David Harborwho has become popular for his role as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, had some great lessons before success, as it was in his role as Hellboy in the 2019 reboot of the film, which some fans consider not to have been the best, because after its premiere, the critics were not kind to the film, and what is worse, only some fans saw it at its premiere, making it a box office failure.
That’s why, speaking in a recent interview, the actor was able to take a moment and look back, to talk about the movie and admit that he was incredibly disappointed in its performance, but was probably not being realistic about his goals. chances of success considering how attached fans of both movies were to Guillermo del Toro’s version of Hellboy:
“It was a very difficult experience because I wanted so much from her. I really like [Mike Mignola, creador de Hellboy]I like that characterHarbor says. “And then immediately when it started, even when it was announced, I realized that people didn’t want that character to be reinvented. I was very naive and optimistic about what we were going to do.”
So fortunately at the time, Harbor claims to have met someone with a similar experience starring in an anticipated but ultimately unsuccessful movie based on a popular comic book character, and decided to go to him for advice on how to cope, which is how I call Ryan Reynoldswho managed to get things right after 2011’s Green Lantern:
“I know him a little bit. I called him up and said: Hey, I just need to know something. Do you know Green Lantern? Big flop for you.”Harbor says. “How the hell is that, because I think I’m going to hit that right now? Am I going to be okay? Am I going to survive this?” Harbor did not give a detailed account of Reynolds’ response, but said the beginning was “sweet”.
But the similarities between the two don’t stop there, as Reynolds found movie redemption with his version of dead poolwhich has placed him in a good place in front of Marvel fans, to which Harbor has not headlined an MCU movie so far, but he played the Red Guardian, alexei shostakovin the film Black Widow of Marvel Studioswhich had a better acceptance that time with critics and fans in general.
“The funny thing about Alexei is that you have this 25-year gap that we don’t know [en la película]. We see him in Ohio and in prison, and even before prison, there was a time when he was the Red Guardian, he must have put the suit back on. There’s a period of time where he has all these stories about his life. Whether or not they are real is questionable.”
