The rest day of the 44th edition of the Dakar is now a thing of the past and the participants who are still in the race start the second week of the rally with the hope of reaching the goal and meeting their objectives. Dakar caravan says goodbye to Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, to head for Al Dawadimi. With a special of 402 kilometers against the clock and a high dose of navigation, the return to competition will not be easy for the pilots who have to open the track today. And more with the rains of the last days.
As is usually a common note in the tours created by David Castera, the seventh stage of the 44th edition of the Dakar presents an authentic Macedonian of terrain and surfaces, forcing the ‘riders’, pilots and co-drivers to change the rhythm on several occasions during the day, as well as to adapt to different circumstances. In this case, the route between Riyadh and Al Dawadimi starts with a fairly long section of fast dirt tracks that will gradually ‘mutate’ into sand tracks. The first small dunes will make an appearance before the equator of the day, when just 150 kilometers have passed.

The central part of the stage takes place in a flat area. Hard earth, but with a lot of deposited dust that will be a real problem when the cars lift it. In fact, it doesn’t seem like the best day to ride in a group or follow the vehicle in front. Taking into account this condition, the last kilometers of the stage can be a real toothache for participants, since it takes place in a region with important dunes that are combined with valleys in which navigation will be difficult. The rain of the last days and this lack of references will make this section more complicated.
