With toasts or avocado toasts already coexisting as one more option in the breakfast offer of bars and cafes, we resume their homemade preparation exploring new possibilities to fill ourselves well with energy with a healthy bite. This time we combine the avocado with tahini or tahini, creating a combination that is as tasty as it is nutritious, which is also perfect to give it a mild spicy touch that will further enliven the palate.
That spicy point can be omitted without problems, but we recommend at least trying it with some dressing more or less smooth, based on our tolerance for picky flavors. A few drops of concentrated chili sauce, a little sriracha or similar or sambal oelek They are good options, but also hot paprika or some chili flakes.
We use as a basis the call knackebrot in German, the typical crunchy “tostadas” that we met in Spain through the Wasa brand, also very popular in Scandinavia. 100% wholegrain and extremely crunchy, we can use the variety that we like the most, in this case with rye and an extra touch of sesame. The key is how you combine the sweet creaminess of the tahini and avocado separately, and the spicy, sour and crunchy contrast of other ingredients such as lemon juice, fresh radishes and the crown of seeds.
If you don’t use bread already crunchy sliced, thinly sliced and toast. Open the avocado, remove the pulp and mash it in a bowl with a good jet of lemon juice, pepper and garlic powder.
Spread a first layer of tahini on the bread and place the creamy avocado on top. Add a few drops of hot sauce or seasoning powder, and a little coarse salt. Spread over some slices of radishes thinly sliced and season with extra virgin olive oil.
Finish with some seeds to taste and lemon zest or a little more freshly ground pepper, if desired. If you don’t have radishes, you can use cucumber, sprouts or sprouts, tomatoes or red onion, etc.
With what to accompany avocado and tahini toasts
For breakfast, a snack, a light dinner or to recharge when we need it, these avocado and tahini toasts are a perfect option at any time of the day. You have to eat them freshly made to maintain the freshness of its ingredients and the crunchy texture of the bread, which is a large part of its charm. We can take them with our morning coffee or infusion, fresh fruit or a natural yogurt, or take them with a salad.
