We already know a concept art of the suit that Deathstroke would have worn in the failed solo Batman movie with Ben Affleck.
Little by little, details of the movie about Batman starring Ben Affleck come to light, and this time it was Deathstroke. Slade Wilson, the villain who debuted in 1980’s The New Teen Titans #2, has been represented in the DCEU by Joe Manganiello. But the suit with which we know him would undergo some variations according to the recently released concept art.
On Keith Christensen’s Instagram account, the conceptual artist shared an illustration of the villain accompanied by the text: “My Deathstroke design for Ben Affleck’s version of #thebatman.”
Although Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke debuted in the post-credits scene of Joss Whedon’s Justice League (2017), the original plan announced in 2016 contemplated that this version of Slade Wilson would be the villain of a film about Batman that Affleck was going to direct, co-write and star.
With credits Collider, in 2016 Affleck stated: “You know, I’m a big fan of that character, too, especially in New 52 I liked the way they did Deathstroke, and I thought it could work.”
For his part, Manganiello declared years later to the same medium: “It was a really dark story in which Deathstroke was like a shark or a horror movie villain who was dismantling Bruce’s life from within. It was a systematic thing: he killed everyone who was close to Bruce. He was destroying his life to try to make him suffer because he felt that Bruce was responsible for something that had happened to him.”
With the departure of Ben Affleck from the Batman project in 2019, the appearance of Deathstroke for the film directed by Matt Reeves about a younger Bruce Wayne was also ruled out.
