With the aim of guaranteeing that patients receive safe, effective and quality drugs for the care of different diseases, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) announced the update of the list of irregular drug distributors.
This commission presented, on July 29, the platform for irregular drug distributors with a list of 44 distributors that fail to comply with health regulations. It was announced that the list is permanently updated as part of the ongoing surveillance and health control work.
Due to the above, the elimination of the platform of Operator of Pharmacies AF of the Center S. de RL de CV, company that submitted an advance in the documentation (documentation entered) required for this type of establishment.
Likewise, it is reported that three more distributors sent the required documentation to Cofepris and are pending verification actions to define their status.
In this update, eight new distributors are exposed that do not comply with the health regulation for not allowing a verification visit; register a non-existent establishment and serious breaches such as lack of infrastructure and equipment to maintain the optimal temperature of medicines, not having a defined inventory system and the presence of harmful fauna, resulting in the temporary suspension of said establishments.
New distributors added to the list
Among the irregular establishments listed are: Quimilabtec, Ethomedical and Germancy, in Nuevo León; Oncopharmaceuticals of Mexico and Estrella Medical Supplies, in Jalisco; Pharmaceutical Bank, in Sinaloa; and Hemiflo, in Yucatan.
Cofepris recommends that patients, the general population and drug buyers consult the distributor platform to ensure that their supplier is not on the list. Otherwise it could represent a direct risk to health.

The possible risks from the consumption of illegal drugs range from lack of therapeutic effect because they do not contain the active substance; development of diseases as a result of the supply of non-sterile or toxic substances, and aggravation of the disease due to the suspension of effective treatment.
It should be noted that, recently, this authority issued a High Sanitary Directive, which establishes the controls that companies dedicated to the distribution and marketing of health supplies must comply with to prevent counterfeit, altered and/or adulterated products from reaching people, causing damage to health and the economy.
