Claudio Maluf has more than two million followers on TikTok, where he created the character of the father from Mexico to sell his perfumes. He now owes his success to the alter egos of dads that exist in most families in this country.
Merca2.0 – Do you study at Tec de Monterrey, what lessons have you learned so far, have you implemented in your career as an influencer?
Claudio Maluf – I am studying chemical engineering and my degree has almost nothing to do with my work as an influencer, but it has helped me a lot in that during the degree you develop too much abstract thinking and I think that helps me a lot with the creative process, the way in what they help you to think and in the structure that the degree gives you, with things that demand of you, I think that is important and the management of technologies as well. I think this makes it easier to use various applications (related to influence work).
Merca2.0 – Combining a student career in chemical engineering with a personality in networks, how much is there of each of these worlds in the other?
CM – The comedy part at school has always been present, not only during the race, since primary school I was the “little clown” who was sitting up front, glued to the door, I think that’s why the comedy part is easier for me. On the other hand, engineering is not something that I am very clear about how it is directly helping my career as an influencer, I think it is something (the way it has helped) the way of thinking, in the structures; once for a waste brand I had to explain a chemical process, so that anyone could understand it, for that specific campaign, of course, the degree was useful for me, because for me it was very easy to understand, but as such I do not see it as related (his chemical engineering studies at the Tec with his activity as an influencer) in fact, I believe that social networks are a great tool and a differentiator for brands, where I believe that a differentiator is social selling. At one point in my career as an influencer, I have a perfume brand, for that chemistry has served me and the influencer part will serve in the future.
CM – I have learned a lot about marketing, with the perfume brand, at the beginning I started contacting influencers from this segment and what was their “live” thing, that it be sold. That was when I began to study a little more about marketing and concepts such as strategies or terms such as the cost of customer acquisition. Today what I learn most about marketing is through an agency, from talking with them.
Merca2.0 – Do you have a scheme to create content?
CM – I have a scheme that I have been changing, I have a challenge to be able to systematize my content creation power, because you can schedule, but the creative part does not come out, you have to do that. I have content that I try to upload daily, I rarely do it to the letter, my goal is that by the end of the year I will be uploading 133 content per week.
