The artistic community of the world is mourning the sad departure of Xavier López Miranda, famous on the Mexican scene as ‘Chabelo‘, due to the iconic role he played until his retirement. According to reports that emerged this Saturday morning, March 25, the actor passed away at age 88 due to health complications.
The López Miranda family has used the official social networks of the presenter to announce that the artist has died this morning due to abdominal difficulties. In addition, they have asked the public to allow them to go through this painful moment in peace and respect his grief.
“With a torn soul and knowing that many and many people have loved him for many years and that they will feel his departure, we ask you to pray for his rest and give us the opportunity to spend in peace the mourning that overwhelms our entire family.”, The relatives stated through the artist’s official Twitter account.
The aforementioned Aztec figure was born in Chicago, United States, on February 17, 1935. The following year, together with his parents, they moved to León, Guanajuato, Mexico, where he later obtained nationality. In addition, he would become a benchmark for comedy and the host of a family program for almost 5 decades.
The López Miranda family has not yet provided additional details about the funeral arrangements or any possible recognition of the actor for his outstanding career on television and film, since he starred in numerous films and became an icon in Mexico and the world.

For more than forty consecutive years, this family-friendly program was broadcast non-stop, earning it a Guinness World Record. ‘En familia con Chabelo’, undoubtedly, managed to make thousands of Mexicans laugh due to the funny jokes and, on occasions, tantrums, of the comedian Xavier López in his role as ‘Chabelo’.

For 48 years, Xavier kept children and adults entertained with the contests he presented on his show. One of the most memorable games was the “Catafixia”, a dynamic in which the participants had the opportunity to win various prizes such as furniture, electrical appliances and much more, if luck smiled on them.
