Samsung presented at CES 2020, a digital avatar baptized as Neon and is defined as an artificial human that works through Artificial Intelligence technologies and that, in addition, is able to talk and sympathize as if it were a real person.
Videos had already been leaked about it, but finally, Samsung decided to present more about this development at the technology event. The South Korean company defines Neon as “a human created by computer who behaves like a real person, with the ability to show emotions and intelligence.”
It should be noted that Neon is the name of the project developed and not the virtual assistant as such. In fact, the artificial human can acquire different personalities, aptitudes and names depending on the use case.
The most disturbing thing is that Samsung explains on its website the following:
«He is not an artificial intelligence assistant. It is not an Internet interface. It is not a music player. He is simply a friend.»
In the presentation, according to some media, Neon does not provide meteorological information because in reality they are more designed to sympathize as true humans.
According to the company, these are personalized digital beings that can appear on devices or in video games and can act as TV presenters, spokespersons or film actors, even as friends.
For now, there are no more details about it. We only have intentions and not so much certainty. It is clear that Samsung wants to innovate in this regard, but we still do not know when it could be tangible.
Do you think the future has reached us?
