Great news for all Dragon Ball fans, is that we could have the return of one of the most feared villains, and even though the Z Fighters have come a long way since Dragon Ball Z when we first met the androids, they may a resurrected Cell would still be strong enough to fight them.
Something that has surprised us is that the possible strength of the well-known antagonist comes from Frieza and could mean a great ally power. Thanks to Frieza, Cell’s perfect form wouldn’t be too weak to fight Goku and his friends if he somehow returned to the current anime, something that wouldn’t be impossible with so many returning characters in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Although Cell has been dead for over ten years in the universe, there have long been theories that the franchise will one day bring the character back. While it’s true that Cell is no longer in the same league as the Z Fighters, what happened to Frieza in Dragon Ball Super shows how little this current difference in power really matters.
Following his resurrection, Frieza had some amazing achievements by unlocking his golden form and catching up with Goku and Vegeta, which he was able to do in just four months of intense training. The way he quickly acquired the power that Goku and Vegeta spent years trying to achieve speaks volumes about his innate physical abilities, due to his race and origin.
It seems that members of Frieza’s race possess a unique ability to rapidly increase in power. Since Cell shares his DNA, he should have what it takes to reap the same rewards and quickly become a powerful adversary for Goku and the others once again.
It is important to note that Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo are not the only ones whose genetic material was used to create Cell. It was established in Dragon Ball Z that Dr. Gero also implemented the DNA of both Frieza and his father, King Cold. Presumably, he was retrieved by the Red Patrol Army after his death at the hands of Future Trunks.
Because of this, Cell has access to many of Frieza’s powers, such as the death ray. It makes sense that this would include Frieza’s innate ability to grow stronger at an incredibly fast rate. All things considered, Dragon Ball has an easy way to immediately make Cell a threat again.
