Authorities of the capital of Mexico seek to accuse subway workers of the failures and breakdowns presented by the facilities of this public transportwarned this Saturday in a statement the National Union of Workers of the Collective Transportation System (SNTSCT).
The union organization in favor of the workers of the capital metro also rejected the conclusion of the Attorney General’s Office of Justice of Mexico Citywho yesterday arrested a driver for manslaughter and injury for allegedly negligent drivingcoupled with the burning and cutting of electrical cables.
This, after the impact of two capital metro trains on January 7, causing the death of an 18-year-old girl and 106 injured, among the Mexicans who used this means of public transport.
We have learned with surprise and concern the statements made public by the spokesperson for the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office (Ulises Lara), with which he tries to blame the workers for the failures and breakdowns that occur in the facilities and trains with which the Metro operates”, said the SNTSTC.

In this sense, The Mexican union also accused the Prosecutor’s Office of intimidating and treating subway workers as criminalsfor which he “categorically rejected the treatment that is being given to our union.”
Likewise, he reiterated that they maintain their position that “if you really want to know the causes that cause the failures in the operation of the Metro, scientific technical expertise must be carried out with the participation of experts in the field of metro.”
He also said that one should not try to divert “a technical issue to the political sphere”since this leads to “the distortion of the true causes that produce the facts under investigation”, in the midst of promotions and campaigns against the head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaumwho is seeking the presidency by 2024.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, pointed out the subway workers’ union, This Union Representation is in constant communication with representatives of the Government of Mexico City and the metroreaching agreements so that the service of this public transport is provided “in the best possible conditions”.
Subway inspections continue
Since January 26, brigades of specialized technicians from the different work areas and sectional leaders have formed work teams to carry out a timely and meticulous check of the trains before they go into circulation.
Likewise, of the track devices, electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems, so that they are in good condition during the daily operation of the metro.
The union also explained that the subway workers prepare sheets that specify the technical specifications of the spare parts necessary for the immediate attention of the needs that are identified during the inspection, as well as for the execution of the maintenance programs.
We have confidence in the commitments acquired with the government authorities in which technical issues have been privileged at all times”, concluded this union representation.
