The Witcher 3 is scheduled to be released again for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
CD Projekt Red shared news yesterday by presenting Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty exclusively for next-gen and PC, forgetting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, the developer seemed to have forgotten that, instead, The Witcher 3 is waiting to make the leap to the new generation of consolesalthough now he has finally updated when he intends to release this improved version of the award-winning and beloved game.
The developer has confirmed that the updated version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still scheduled to be released for PS5, Xbox Series and PC later this year. It was at the company’s first half investor meeting that CD Projekt’s Chairman and Joint CEO, Adam Kiciński, announced that the game is “on track” to release during Q4 2022.
The Witcher 3 was originally scheduled to reach the new generation of consoles in 2021. However, this improved version was delayed until the second quarter of 2022, while in April the studio opted to change internal development since it was carried by Saber Interactive, had already dealt with the game when working on its port for the Nintendo Switch. This was when the delay was set indefinitely.
The Witcher 3, an eternal game
A couple of years ago, sales figures for The Witcher 3 amounted to 28 million units worldwide, but the stability of sales despite the passage of time led it to reach 40 million copies. Its expansions and reissues or the arrival of the Netflix live action series have made The Witcher saga as a whole exceeds more than 65 million units worldwidethis third installment being the longest in stores, even more so considering that it is now expected an improved version that will include additionslike cosmetics from the Netflix series.
