Like other companies, Capcom has shared its financial report regarding the recent fiscal year. To no one’s surprise, 2021 was a great year for the Japanese company, thus establishing a new record in income generated.
As the company points out in its report, this was the fifth consecutive year of record profits driven by the digital content business. Between April 2021 and March 2022, sales of 32.6 million units of its video games were recorded. This milestone was achieved thanks to the launch of titles such as Resident Evil Village Y Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
Similarly, another of the techniques that helped this was the constant sales of their games in digital stores. With this, Capcom anticipates net sales of ¥120 billion yen and operating income of ¥48 billion yen for the current fiscal year. Should this come to pass, this would translate to ten straight years of operating income growth and six straight years of record earnings at all levels.
In specific cases, it has been mentioned that Resident Evil Village has exceeded 6.1 million units sold. On the other hand, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin reached 1.5 million copies. With the great expansion of monster hunter rise planned for the end of June, this installment is also likely to boost your revenue.
On related issues, Capcom has increased the salary of its employees.
Editor’s note:
2021 was a big year for Capcom. However, apart from the expansion of monster hunter rise, there is still much that is unknown about the future of the company. Hopefully new information on titles like Street Fighter 6 soon reach our hands.
