Although the anger in each pre-sale for the events that are in the Ticketmaster field is already a constant, the dynamics of buying and selling tickets by the company has fallen into a gray area, since although it gives rise to bad practices such as reselling it’s not illegal.
“This would have to be regulated because in some events all the tickets are sold in exclusive pre-sales. There should be a regulation that determines the percentage of the ticketing of the total sale of a show to be dedicated to the financial institutions with which there is an agreement”, declares Luis Fernando Flores Chávez, director of the Law degree, at the Tec de Monterrey Toluca campus.
Although the company has a wide range of events, there is no monopolistic practice. The company is so large in size that it prevents the growth of other platforms; however, for experts this does not mean that it is not necessary for the antitrust authority to take its sights off the company.
“Greater supervision should be established in this type of company. Now, with the economic opening, people want to go out to the shows and the demand is very high and there is no control over the activity of these companies and that is why the problems that arise are generated, such as what happens with the tickets duplicates”, declares Ángel Méndez, a specialist at the Commercial Banking School.
