For a few months, Bungie has been hiring for a new multiplayer project that it would announce soon, but so far it had not made any large signings for this team. Until today, when a well-known industry veteran has announced that he is joining the British team known for their work on the original Halo and Destiny trilogy. At the moment, little else is known about this project.
Through his personal Twitter account, Tom Abernathy has confirmed that he will join Bungie as senior narrative leader of “an unannounced project.” Abernathy is known for his previous work on games like Guild Wars 2, League of Legends or The Saboteur, among other games. This also gives rise to previous leaks about this Bungie project that indicated that this project would have competitive multiplayer and eSports elements.
At the moment, little else is known about this project. Nor it is ruled out that it could be a new game set in the Destiny universe, although most sources suggest that it is a new IP. Definitely a big step forward for Bungie, which has only worked on two franchises so far.

There is currently no approximate release date for this project either. Until then, Bungie remains focused on its ambitious Destiny 2 content plan that expands with The Witch Queen, expansion that will arrive on February 22 with new missions, a new region and playable news as important as weapon crafting.
