A series of new patents filed by Bungie could indicate that the company is in the process of developing a Destiny mobile game. These patents were discovered by the group of The Game Post, and indicate that they were presented earlier this year and were published a week ago. One of the most striking patents deals with virtual controls for shooter games on mobile devices.
Bungie Files New Patent Related to a Destiny Mobile Game
These patents include control schemes similar to those featured in several popular mobile games, with emulated buttons and joysticks that appear on the screen where the user rests their fingers. The publication of patents has fueled further speculation that a Destiny mobile game may be in development.
Throughout this year Sony acquired Bungie in a deal worth $3.6 billion. In May, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said that Bungie’s purchase was motivated in part by a desire for PlayStation to become more of a cross-platform business.. In addition to its ongoing work on Destiny 2, Bungie previously announced plans to release at least one new IP before 2025.
