New exhibition of the Boston Dynamics robots, which already belong to Hyundai. They surprise us again practicing parkour, and they do it like professionals …
We have seen them grow up almost as if they were our children. A few years ago they could barely stand, but now Boston Dynamics robots are already able to practice parkour with an amazing naturalness.
As the company itself explains: “Parkour is the perfect training ground for the Boston Dynamics Atlas team to experiment with new behaviors. In this video, our humanoid robots demonstrate their full-body athletic ability, maintaining their balance through a variety of rapidly changing high-energy activities“.
And continues: “Through jumps, balance beams and twists we demonstrate how we push Atlas to its limits to discover the next generation of mobility, perception and intelligence.“. Even better to be described, is to see it with your own eyes, so here you have the video:
The robots Atlas are bipedal robots from Boston Dynamics, that they are not for sale yet.
They are the most difficult to develop, because mimic the movement of the human body. They’re still a bit lacking, especially in speed, but it’s amazing how they maintain balance and coordination while jumping blocks of wood or walking down steep ramps.
The most spectacular movement is the one that can be seen at one point in the video, when the Atlas robot supports a hand on a wooden beam to jump it by raising its legs, as a professional of the Parkour.
Last December, the well-known car brand Hyundai bought the robot company Boston Dynamics, which was in the hands of a Japanese consortium, for 1,100 million dollars.
The Spot quadruped robot is now on sale, which costs around 75,000 euros, and fulfills jobs as diverse as guarding premises, helping in hospitals, transporting materials in factories, or completing missions with the French army.
He is even capable of dancing like a K-Pop star. NASA is training them to take them to explore the caves of Mars. Is there anything they can’t do?
