The huge model of the German brand is renewed, despite having a body that hardly has rivals in the market. The BMW 6 Series GT 2021 comes with a multitude of changes, both aesthetic and technological.
Although its most direct rivals are the Audi A7 Sportback or the Porsche Panamera, the 6 Series has distanced itself from them with higher body height, allowing it to offer a very spacious cabin, five comfortable doors and a look that is close to a little to that of an SUV.
Exterior design of the BMW 6 Series GT 2021
At 5.09 meters in length, the BMW 6 Series GT 2021 is one of the most comfortable cars for family travel, although its dimensions are not the most desirable for urban use. Its size makes it look imposing and powerful, something that has been emphasized with this restyling.
The changes in the front go through a completely redesigned bumper, larger air intakes and more stylish and aggressive headlights, which now have full-LED technology as standard, similar to those of the 5 Series. As in other BMW models, the shapes of the bumper change depending on the finish, with more or less emphasis on the sporty look.
The silhouette of the raised Gran Coupé does not vary, a solution that was widely criticized in models such as the 3 GT Series or the 5 GT Series (which it replaces), since it breaks with the elegance that the conventional 5 Series transmits, at the cost of improving remarkably practicality.
The rear also enjoys eye-catching changes, such as the slightly different riders with more accomplished LED technology, or the all-new, bulky bumper with a higher diffuser to conceal as much bodywork in the rear.
Inside
It is true that, with such a size and price, you can find seven-seater SUVs that are authentic family buses, but they will not enjoy the magnificent dynamism of this BMW 6 Series GT 2021.
Its five extra-large seats and generous 610 liters of luggage space make spending hours on the highway with children much easier. In addition, the tailgate greatly facilitates the loading and unloading of bulky objects, something that a 5 Series cannot boast of.
The standard equipment is very complete, with electrically adjustable front seats, Dakota leather, and an impressive multimedia system with two 12.3-inch screens, one in the center of the dashboard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system and another customizable one that makes the times of instrument panel.
Active safety has not been neglected either, with systems such as the warning for involuntary lane change with a turning function that returns you to the center of it, or an active speed program with automatic start and stops function, a very comfortable solution for jams. The list of options is almost infinite, and all are focused on a reality that is much closer than it seems: autonomous driving.
Engines of the BMW 6 Series GT 2021
At launch, it will be available with three diesel engines, with 190 hp, 286 hp and 340 hp , while in terms of gasoline everything comes down to two options, with 258 hp and 333 hp.
The most basic versions will come equipped with rear-wheel drive, while the six-cylinder will give the option of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with the exception of the 340 hp diesel, which will only be available with four-wheel drive.
What has definitely been lost in BMW’s high-end vehicles is the manual transmission and, although the brand’s automatic gearbox is one of the best on the market in speed and efficiency, it would not hurt to have a manual among the options.
As for the price, the brand has not provided data, but they will be a little different from those of the current 6 Series GT, a model that has a starting price of 66,150 euros for the 620d model with 190 HP.
